About Dr. Shin
Dr. James Junsub Shin understands what it means to live with spine and disc issues. As a young healthcare professional who sustained an on-the-job injury, he experienced chronic pain that affected his mood, energy, and daily life. That experience reinforced what many patients already know: persistent pain can change everything. It also deepened his commitment to care that is compassionate, conservative, and focused on long-term solutions.
An athlete at heart, Dr. Shin played tennis throughout high school and college, where he learned the value of prevention, intelligent training, and spinal health. These lessons now shape his clinical philosophy: educate early, treat conservatively, and build resilient spines through consistent, evidence-based habits. He believes patients deserve clear diagnoses, thoughtful plans, and a clinician who listens.
Dr. Shin is passionate about spinal decompression and discogenic conditions. He integrates knowledge gained through formal training and continuing education, including principles of Cox flexion-distraction, non-surgical decompression protocols, targeted mobility, and progressive strengthening. His goal is to protect the spine, restore confident movement, and help patients return to the activities they value.
Dr. Shin received his Doctor of Chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of California, San Diego. After completing his chiropractic degree, he continued to advance his skills with training in dry needling and Cox-informed decompression therapy. He emphasizes prevention and self-management in every treatment plan.
Fluent in English and Korean, Dr. Shin communicates effectively with a wide range of patients and families. Outside of practice, he enjoys tennis, pickleball, and golf, and he is currently preparing for the Houston Marathon.
